Minor repairs · Marrickville

The small stuff, sorted this week.

Car park dents, kerbed bumpers, scratched doors and scuffed mirrors. The jobs too small to bother an insurer with, quoted honestly and usually back with you in a day or two.

What counts as minor

Broadly: damage that has not touched the structure of the car and does not need a panel replaced. A trolley ding, a scraped bumper corner, a key mark down a door, a cracked mirror cap, a scuffed alloy.

These are worth doing because they are cheap now and expensive later. A deep scratch through the clear coat lets water at the primer, and a small kerbed bumper crack spreads every time the car goes over a speed hump. They also take a real bite out of what a car sells for.

Typical jobs

What we fix most often

Car park dents

Door dings and trolley knocks worked out and refinished so the panel reads flat again.

Kerbed and cracked bumpers

Plastic repaired, reshaped and repainted rather than replaced, wherever the damage allows.

Scratches and key marks

Cut back, sealed and refinished in the factory colour so water never reaches the primer.

Scuffed mirrors and trim

Mirror caps, door handles, badges and trim pieces tidied up or swapped out cheaply.

Stone chips

Bonnet and front bar chips touched in before they rust, or corrected properly if there are enough of them.

Pre-sale tidy-ups

The handful of small marks that knock a grand off a private sale, fixed together for one price.

Minor repair questions

Often not. If the repair costs less than your excess, or not much more, paying for it directly keeps your claim history clean. We will quote it either way and tell you honestly which way we would go.

Yes. The colour is matched to your paint code and then adjusted for how the panel has faded, and it is blended into the panels beside the repair. Age is a normal part of the job, not a problem.

Where the paint is unbroken and the metal is accessible, yes, it is the quickest and cheapest way to get a dent out. Once the paint is cracked, the panel needs refinishing and it becomes a conventional repair.

For most small damage, yes. A clear photo straight on and a second from an angle is usually enough. We confirm it when the car arrives, and if it turns out to be more than the photo showed you hear about it before any work starts.

Almost always. Buyers price visible damage far above what it costs to repair, and a car with a tidy exterior and a fresh detail sells faster. A pre-sale repair and detail package usually pays for itself several times over.
