Cars under repair in an auto workshop

Insurance claims · Marrickville

Your claim, handled from this end.

You can choose your own repairer on most comprehensive policies. We are accepted by every major Australian insurer, we write quotes the way assessors read them, and we run the claim from assessment through to the day you collect the car.

Choice of repairer

When you make a claim your insurer will usually suggest a repairer from their own network. On most comprehensive policies that is a suggestion, not a requirement. Check your PDS for a choice-of-repairer clause, then tell them you are using Tempe Collision Care.

It matters because a network repairer is working to the insurer's cost targets. We work to the standard the car needs, and we have twenty-five years of knowing how to document the difference so it gets approved.

How a claim runs through this workshop

The process

Lodge

Report the accident to your insurer and give them our details as your chosen repairer. If you are not sure what to say, call us first and we will walk you through it.

Assess

Bring the car in. We photograph and document the damage, including what is hidden behind the panels, and prepare a quote in the format your insurer expects.

Approve

We deal with the assessor directly, negotiate the scope, and submit supplementaries for anything found once the car is apart. You are told what is happening; you do not have to chase it.

Repair

Parts ordered against the approved scope, panel, paint and electrical work completed in-house, and a courtesy car or pickup arranged if you need one.

Collect

Quality-checked, detailed and warranted. We invoice the insurer directly and you pay nothing but your excess.

What we take off your plate

The parts of a claim nobody enjoys

The paperwork

Quotes formatted to insurer requirements, supplementaries documented and submitted, invoicing handled directly with them.

The phone calls

Assessor bookings, scope negotiation and approval chasing all happen from this end. You get updates, not tasks.

The hidden damage

Impact damage behind a bumper or inside a quarter panel is found, photographed and approved properly rather than quietly skipped.

Getting around

A courtesy car where we have one available, or a hire car arranged under your policy if it includes one.

Getting the car here

If it is not driveable, we will organise recovery to Marrickville and take it from there.

Standing behind it

An insurance job carries exactly the same workmanship warranty as a private one. The claim ends; the warranty does not.

Good to know

Insurance claim questions

On most comprehensive policies in Australia, yes. Your PDS will have a choice-of-repairer clause. Some cheaper policies restrict you to the insurer's network, so it is worth checking. Either way, ring us and we will tell you where you stand before you commit to anything.

No. You pay your excess, exactly as you would anywhere else. We invoice the insurer for the approved repair.

It happens, and it is usually a disagreement about scope rather than a refusal. We document why the work is needed, with photographs, and put that to the assessor. That conversation is a normal part of the job and we have it so you do not have to.

Get the other driver's name, rego, phone number and insurer at the scene, and photograph both cars and the position they ended up in. Then lodge with your own insurer and nominate us. Not-at-fault claims often mean you pay no excess at all.

Assessment can usually happen within a day or two of you calling. After that the clock is largely your insurer's: approvals are typically a few days, and parts availability decides the rest. You get a realistic date, not an optimistic one.

If the repair cost approaches the car's value, the insurer will declare it a total loss and settle with you instead. We will tell you as soon as we can see that coming, so you are not waiting on a repair that is never going to be approved.
